UN ECE R125 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of 1° forward vision field of M180 category vehicle drivers.

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.
Regulation (UN/ECE) No. 125 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe — Covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of motor vehicles and the tests applied accordingly with regard to the motor vehicle driver's forward vision.
An application for a vehicle type approval according to the driver's field of view is made by the vehicle manufacturer or its authorized representative. If the type of vehicle submitted for approval in accordance with this regulation meets the necessary conditions, that vehicle is approved.
One of the main purposes of the regulation is to provide an adequate field of view when the windshield and other glazed surfaces are dry and clean. The requirements of this regulation are expressed to apply to vehicles of category M1 with the driver on the left. For vehicles of category M1 with the driver on the right, these requirements apply with the criteria reversed where appropriate.
Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
