UN ECE R27 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of vehicles in the categories specified in the regulation in terms of front underside protection (FUP) and Front underside protection devices (FUPDs).

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.
Regulation No. 27 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — It covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of triangular reflector equipment of vehicles and the tests applied accordingly.
This Regulation applies to certain pre-warning devices intended to be found in vehicles and intended to be placed on the carriageway to notify the presence of a stopped vehicle day and night.
The forewarning triangle shall be open in the center and consist of a red border consisting of an outer retroreflective strip and an interior fluorescent strip, all supported at a certain height from the surface of the carriageway. Open center, fluorescent and retroreflective strips should be delimited by concentric equilateral triangle contours.
Advance warning triangles must be constructed in such a way as to maintain the prescribed characteristics and continue to operate satisfactorily in normal use (on the road and when transported in a vehicle).
Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
