UN / ECE R 37 Tests
UN ECE R37 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of filament lamps of motor vehicles and their trailers intended for use in approved lamp units.

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.
Regulation 37 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — Covers the uniform provisions and associated tests for the approval of filament lamps for use in approved lamp units in powered vehicles and their trailers.
It is carried out in the following ways in accordance with the relevant regulation within the scope of UN ECE R37 tests;
- Filament lamps should first be aged at test voltages for approximately one hour. For bi-filament lamps, each filament will be aged separately.
- In the case of a filament lamp with a coated bulb, after the aging period corresponding to paragraph 3.4.1, the surface of the bulb should be gently wiped with a cotton cloth dipped in 70 volumes of the mixture (percentage of n-heptane and 30 volumes). will be examined. It should not show any noticeable change.
- The position and dimensions of the filament should be measured with filament lamps supplied with current from 90 percent to 100 percent of the test voltage.
- Unless otherwise specified, electrical and photometric measurements will be made at test voltage.
- Electrical measurements shall be made with instruments of at least class 0.2.
- The luminous flux (in lumens) specified in the filament lamp information sheets in Annex 1 is valid for filament lamps emitting white light unless a special color is specified. If selective yellow color is allowed, the luminous flux of the selective yellow outer bulb and the filament lamp must be at least 85 percent of the specified luminous flux of the corresponding filament lamp emitting white light.
For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
