UN / ECE R 82 Tests

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation 82 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — Covers the uniform provisions for the approval of moped headlights equipped with filament halogen lamps (HS2 lamps) and the tests applied accordingly.

This regulation applies to the approval of headlights equipped with halogen lamps (HS2 lamps) provided for the equipment of mopeds and vehicles treated in this way. Headlights shall be so designed and constructed that, in normal use, they continue to operate satisfactorily, despite the vibration to which they may be subjected, and maintain the specifications set forth in this regulation.

The correct position of the lens relative to the optical system must be clearly marked and blocked against rotation. For the measurement of the illumination produced by the headlights, the measurement screen described in Annex 3 of this regulation and the standard halogen filament lamp with flat and colorless bulb specified in the HS37 category of the regulation No. 2 will be used.

Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
