UN / ECE R 19 Tests

UN ECE R19 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of front fog lamps, which may contain lenses of glass or plastic material, for vehicles in categories L3, L4, L5, L7, M, N and T.

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation No. 19 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — Covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of power driven vehicle front fog lamps and the tests applied accordingly.

Within the scope of UN ECE R19 tests, the following tests are carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation;

• Photometric performance stability test; The tests should be carried out in a dry and inert atmosphere at an ambient temperature of 23 °C ± 5 °C, the complete front fog lamp must be mounted on a base that represents the correct installation in the vehicle.
• Vertical position change test of the cutting line under the influence of heat; This test consists of verifying that the vertical offset of the cut line under the influence of heat does not exceed the specified value for an operating front fog lamp.
•  Testing of lens or material samples and complete lamps
• resistance to temperature changes
• Photometric measurements
• Resistance to atmospheric and chemical substances
• Resistance to detergents and hydrocarbons
• Resistance to mechanical degradation
• Tests of the complete lamp with a lens made of plastic material
• Spray Tests
• Adhesive Tests

For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
