Homologation and UN ECE Automotive Type Approval Tests

UN / ECE R 129 Tests

UN ECE R129 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of vehicles in the categories specified in the regulation in terms of child restraint systems.

UN / ECE R 129 Tests

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation 129 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — It covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of advanced Child Restraint Systems (ECRS) used in motor vehicles and the tests applied accordingly.

This Regulation (Phase 1) applies to Integral Universal ISOFIX Child Restraint Systems (i-Size) and Integral "Specific vehicle ISOFIX" Child Restraint Systems for child occupants of motor vehicles.

Child Restraint System (CRS) means a device capable of accommodating a child passenger in a sitting or supine position. It is designed to limit the child's body mobility, reducing the risk of injury to the user in the event of a collision or sudden vehicle deceleration.

ISOFIX is a system that provides a method for attaching a Child Restraint System to a vehicle. It is based on two vehicle anchors and two corresponding attachments in the Child Seat System in conjunction with a vehicle to limit the tilt rotation of the Child Seat System.

Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
