Homologation and UN ECE Automotive Type Approval Tests

UN / ECE R 30 Tests

UN ECE R30 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of pneumatic tires of vehicles other than M1, O1 and O2 categories.

UN / ECE R 30 Tests

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation No. 30 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — It covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of pneumatic tires of motor vehicles and their trailers and the tests applied accordingly.

Pneumatic tires are a popular wheel option in industrial wheel applications and are wheels that have a metal hub onto which a tire is mounted. Instead of being solid in nature, the tire is filled with air or foam to the desired pressure level to achieve the proper load and deflection characteristics.

A tire that does not show tread splitting, ply splitting, cord splitting, splintering or broken cords after passing the load/speed test, or a test tire marked with the speed symbol "Y" that exhibits superficial swelling of the tread caused by certain test equipment and conditions after passing the relevant test considered past.

Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
