Homologation and UN ECE Automotive Type Approval Tests

UN / ECE R 130 Tests

UN ECE R130 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of vehicles in the categories specified in the regulation in terms of Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) equipment.

UN / ECE R 130 Tests

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation 130 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of motor vehicles and the tests applied in connection with the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).

This Regulation applies to the lane departure warning system of vehicles in categories M 2 , N 2 , M 3 and N 3. Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) refers to a system that warns the driver of the unintentional drift of the vehicle from the cruise lane.

The Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) must be designed, manufactured and installed according to the guidelines specified in the regulation. The effectiveness of the LDWS should not be adversely affected by magnetic or electric fields. When the system is active, the LDWS should alert the driver if it detects lane crossing on roads with visible lanes separating the two-way road.

Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
