Homologation and UN ECE Automotive Type Approval Tests

UN / ECE R 77 Tests

UN ECE R77 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of vehicles in categories M, N and T in terms of parking lights.

UN / ECE R 77 Tests

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation (UN/ECE) No. 77 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe — It covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of parking lamps for electric vehicles and the tests applied accordingly.

Parking light means the light used to draw attention to the presence of a stationary vehicle. Parking lamps must be designed and manufactured in such a way that they continue to operate satisfactorily despite the vibrations to which they may be subjected in normal use and maintain the characteristics set forth in this Regulation.

All measurements should be made with colorless standard filament lamps of the types specified for the device, adjusted to produce the normal luminous flux prescribed for this type of lamp.

All measurements in lamps equipped with non-replaceable light sources (filament lamps and others) shall be made at 6,75 V, 13,5 V or 28,0 V, respectively.

In the case of light sources supplied by a dedicated power supply, the above test voltages should be applied to the input terminals of that power supply. The test lab may request from the manufacturer the specific power supply needed to power the light sources.

For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
