EN 16034 Pedestrian Doors, Industrial, Commercial, Garage Doors and Openable Windows - Fire Resistance and/or Smoke Control Properties

EN 16034, a European standard, describes material-independent safety and performance requirements applicable to all fire-resistant or smoke control products intended for use in fire and smoke compartmentation and escape routes. These requirements apply to the following products:

• Garage doors, rolling shutters or operable fabric curtains that are accessible to people and intended to be installed in areas where the primary use is to provide safe access to goods and vehicles in the presence of persons or to the goods and vehicles used by them.
• Rolling shutters or operable fabric curtains used in retail outlets for persons access rather than vehicles or goods
• Hinged or sliding pedestrian door sets, openable windows or surveillance hatches intended to be installed in areas accessible to people and whose primary use is to provide safe access for persons

Requirements and rules for variations of fire resistance or smoke control door groups are given in EN 15269 series standards and EN 1634-1 and EN 1634-3 standards.

The following products are not covered by this standard:

• Fixed windows, glazed side panels or top panels that are not an integral part of a door set or openable window
• Door assemblies manufactured with components from a variety of sources for which there is no single identified manufacturer or legal entity to take responsibility
• Operation in environments where electromagnetic disturbances are outside the range defined in the EN 61000-6-3 standard
