The ISO 14116 standard, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), specifies the performance requirements for the limited flame-emitting properties of all materials, all material groups and protective clothing to reduce the possibility of the clothing burning in occasional and brief contact with small flames and thus posing a hazard. Additional requirements for garments are also included in this standard, including design requirements, mechanical requirements, marking, and information provided by the manufacturer.

This international standard is not applicable when protection against heat hazards is required in addition to protection against flame. Other standards are used instead, such as ISO 11612 (ISO 11612 Protective clothing - Clothing providing heat and flame protection - Minimum performance requirements standard).
The EN ISO 14116 standard also includes a classification system for materials, material groups and clothing tested according to Procedure A (according to the surface firing test method) defined in the ISO 15025 standard.
In short, the purpose of the EN ISO 14116 standard is to define the minimum performance requirements for clothing to reduce the possibility of burning and thus creating a hazard itself when the garment or its materials come into contact with small flames occasionally and for short periods of time. It is recognized that protection of the head, face, hands or feet with appropriate personal protective equipment and, in some cases, appropriate respiratory protection is necessary for complete protection against exposure to flame.
Here are a few changes made in the last update of this standard:
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for flame protection of limited flame-spreading materials, material groups and clothing within the scope of ISO 14116 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. .
