EN 54 Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems
The EN 54 standard, which is a European standard, is a series of many sub-standards. The first part of this standard explains the terms and definitions used in substandards. This chapter describes the principles on which each part of the series is based and the functions performed by the components of a fire detection and fire alarm system. This standard applies to fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings and civil engineering works. However, it does not apply to smoke alarm devices within the scope of EN 14604.

The EN 54 standard consists of the following subsections under the main heading of "Fire detection and fire alarm systems":
- EN 54-1 Part 1: Introduction.
- EN 54-2 Part 2: Control and indication equipment.
- EN 54-3 Part 3: Fire alarm devices - Sounders.
- EN 54-4 Part 4: Power supply equipment.
- EN 54-5 Part 5: Heat detectors - Point heat detectors.
- EN 54-7 Part 7: Smoke detectors - Point smoke detectors operating using scattered light, transmitted light or ionization.
- EN 54-10 Part 10: Flame detectors - Point detectors.
- EN 54-11 Part 11: Manual call points.
- EN 54-12 Part 12: Smoke detectors - Line detectors using optical beams.
- EN 54-13 Part 13: Compatibility assessment of system components.
- EN 54-14 Part 14: Guidelines for planning, design, installation, commissioning, use and maintenance.
- EN 54-15 Part 15: Point detectors using a combination of detected fire events.
- EN 54-16 Part 16: Voice alarm control and indicating equipment.
- EN 54-17 Part 17: Short circuit isolators.
- EN 54-18 Part 18: Input/output devices.
- EN 54-20 Part 20: Aspirating smoke detectors.
- EN 54-21 Part 21: Alarm transmission and fault warning routing equipment.
- EN 54-22 Part 22: Resettable in-line heat detectors.
- EN 54-23 Part 23: Fire alarm devices - Visual alarm devices.
- EN 54-24 Part 24: Components of voice alarm systems - Loudspeakers.
- EN 54-25 Part 25: Components using radio links.
- EN 54-26 Part 26: Carbon monoxide detectors - Point detectors.
- EN 54-27 Part 27: Duct smoke detectors.
- EN 54-28 Part 28: Non-resettable in-line heat detectors.
- EN 54-29 Part 29: Multisensor fire detectors - Point detectors using a combination of smoke and heat sensors.
- EN 54-30 Part 30: Multisensor fire detectors - Point detectors using a combination of carbon monoxide and heat sensors.
- EN 54-31 Part 31: Multisensor fire detectors - Point detectors using a combination of smoke, carbon monoxide and optionally heat sensors.
- TS 54-32 Chapter 32: Planning, design, installation, commissioning, use and maintenance of voice alarm systems.
In short, the EN 54 series of standards is a set of European standards containing application guidelines for fire detection and fire alarm systems and voice alarm systems. Product standards include product specifications, test methods, and performance criteria by which the effectiveness and reliability of each component of the fire detection and fire alarm system are evaluated and declared. Most of these product standards are harmonized standards within the scope of construction products regulation 305/2011/EU published in European Union countries.
Generally , certification according to EN 54 standards is carried out in two stages:
- Certificate of constancy of performance for the product
- Factory production control certificate of conformity
This series of standards is partially used in many countries in the world today, outside the European Union countries.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides fire detection and fire alarm systems testing services within the framework of EN 54 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
