EN ISO 1182 Reaction to Fire Tests for Products - Flammability Test

In the EN ISO 1182 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), there is a test method for determining the flammability performance of homogeneous products and important components of non-homogeneous products under certain conditions. Information on the precision of this test method is given in the standard annex (Annex A).

EN ISO 1182 Reaction to Fire Tests for Products - Flammability Test

The fire test described in this standard, although not completely inert, has been developed for use in the selection of building products that produce only a very limited amount of heat and flame when exposed to temperatures of approximately 750 degrees Celsius. This test method was designed as a solution to the problems experienced in limiting the application area and defining specifications for samples to test homogeneous products and important components of inhomogeneous products. The sample design of inhomogeneous products strongly influences test results, therefore inhomogeneous products are not tested according to this document.

By product, it is meant the material, element or components about which information is required. In the application of this standard, the material is a single basic substance or a homogeneously dispersed mixture of substances, loose filling material, material without any physical form, homogeneous product, product consisting of a single material, having the same density and composition in all parts, non-homogeneous product, important or It refers to the product consisting of more than one insignificant component, not having the same density and composition throughout, and continuous flaming, where the flame continues for 5 seconds or more in any part of the visible part of the sample.

The flammability test is carried out in an open and vertically placed cylindrical furnace. Before the test sample is given, the oven is heated to 750 degrees. The samples are cylindrical, 45 mm in diameter and 50 mm in height. During the test, the temperatures in the furnace, the sample surface and the sample center are measured and the continuous flashing time is observed. Samples are weighed before and after testing and the weight loss is recorded.

Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, also provides flammability testing services for products within the scope of EN ISO 1182 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
