Developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), IMO FTPC Part 4: Fire test procedure for fire door control system is a fire test procedure for fire door control systems applied to marine equipment. Materials to be used at sea are tested according to this International Maritime Organization fire test procedures code. The results can be used for type approval.

Class A, B, or F partitions, such as decks, curtains, doors, ceilings, cladding, windows, fire barriers, pipe penetrations, and cable penetrations, must comply with this procedure. Products tested for use in buildings have similar classification markings. However, they do not fit into marine use classes.
The products listed are tested and evaluated according to the fire test procedure specified in the decision numbered A.754(18). Annexes to this resolution also contain test procedures for windows, fire barriers and pipe and duct penetrations.
Ships sailing in international waters must meet certain requirements. The European Union and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) require certification of products placed on these ships and the issuance of type approval certificates for other products. Fire test reports alone are not accepted and it is necessary to contact a notified body for marine Certification to obtain these documents and the tests must comply with IMO FTPC procedures.
Fire door control systems should be tested and evaluated according to the test procedure presented in section 4 of this procedure. The classification criteria are determined as follows:
At the same time, equipment carried on ships registered under the flags of European Union countries must be tested and certified in accordance with the 96/98 EC marine equipment directive.
