The IEC 60695-2 standard, published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), consists of the following sub-sections under the main heading "Fire hazard test":

Standard IEC 60695-2-10 describes the glow wire apparatus and common test procedure for simulating for short periods the effects of thermal stresses produced by heat sources such as glowing elements or overloaded resistors to assess fire hazard with a simulation technique. This test method is intended for small scale tests where a standardized electrically heated wire is used as an ignition source. It is a common part of testing methods applied to end products and solid electrical insulating materials or other solid combustible materials. This standard should be considered in conjunction with other sections.
The IEC 60695-2-11 standard describes a test method on the end product. It is intended to simulate the effects of thermal stresses produced by an electrically heated source to represent a fire hazard. This test method is used to check that, under defined test conditions, a final product exposed to an electrically heated source either has a limited flammability ability or, if ignited, a limited ability to spread flame. However, fire hazard analysis, flammability aspects and spread of flame to other products are not covered by this standard. This standard should be considered together with the IEC 60695-2-10 standard.
The IEC 60695-2-12 standard details the glow wire flammability test to be applied to test specimens of solid electrical insulation materials or other solid materials for the purpose of determining the glow wire flammability index (GWFI). The glow wire flammability index is the highest temperature determined during this standard procedure at which the material under test does not ignite, or if it does ignite, it is extinguished within 30 seconds after removal of the glow wire, is not completely consumed, and does not ignite the bandage if molten droplets are formed. This test method is a material test performed on a series of standard test specimens. Data obtained from the glow wire ignition temperature test method for materials can be used in a pre-selection process. This standard should be considered in conjunction with the IEC 60695-2-10 standard.
The IEC 60695-2-13 standard describes the details of the glow wire test to be applied to test samples of solid electrical insulating materials or other solid materials for flammability testing to determine the glow wire ignition temperature. The glowwire ignition temperature is the temperature at which 25 K higher than the maximum test temperature, determined during this standard procedure, does not ignite the material under test or at which sustained flaming combustion does not occur for more than 5 seconds. This test is a material test performed on a set of standard test specimens. This standard should be considered together with the IEC 60695-2-10 standard.
Briefly, the primary purposes of these standards are to provide guidance to prevent ignition by an electrically powered component part and to limit any fire that occurs within the enclosure boundaries of the electrotechnical product in the event of ignition.
Our organization also provides fire hazard testing services within the scope of IEC 60695-2 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
