In the EN 1773 standard, which is a European standard, a test method is defined for determining the length and width of textile fabrics in the relaxed state obtained by releasing the tension applied in the standard atmosphere for textile products. This test method is applied to textile fabrics of full width, folded vertically in the middle or tubular, but not longer than 100 meters. This standard is not a method to identify or explain construction or other defects. In addition, this standard does not apply to coated fabrics.

The usable width of a fabric is the length measured between the warp threads on the left edge and the warp threads on the right edge , minus the edge length. The actual piece of material may be wider than the usable width, but most manufacturers provide the usable width instead of the actual width.
Fabric width varies according to the manufacturer and fabric type. There is no standard width value for all fabric types. Generally, however, similar fabrics tend to have similar widths.
During testing, a sample of textile fabric, conditioned in a relaxed state under a standard atmosphere, is laid out on a smooth surface. A calibrated ruler is used to determine the length and width of the piece. Measuring partial lengths may be necessary to determine the total length of a sample. The total length of the sample is obtained by summing these partial lengths. Samples are selected either according to the procedure specified in the fabric's material specification or as agreed upon between the parties. The fabric must be conditioned and measured in a relaxed state. The preconditioning, conditioning, and testing environments comply with the EN 20139 standard.
For the purposes of this standard,
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for the determination of width and length of fabrics, within the scope of EN 1773 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
