The ISO 7768 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), defines a test method for evaluating the preservation of the original smooth appearance of the tested fabrics after one or more cleaning processes. This test method is primarily designed for use in B type household washing machines as defined in the ISO 6330 standard for cleaning. However, as defined in the same standard, it is possible to use this test method on type A machines as well. This test method is used to evaluate the appearance of smoothness after other cleaning procedures.

Prints and patterns on fabric are known to mask tangles in fabrics. However, this does not completely mask the smooth look approach aimed at providing the consumer with fabrics that require little or no ironing.
The test method in question is intended to detect the appearance of smoothness of fabrics after they have been subjected to home washing procedures. Several washing and drying procedures provide standard parameters that represent common home care options.
Currently, the measurement and evaluation of wrinkle appearance in textiles after home washing and drying is primarily done to compare the fabric with imitations. The main disadvantages of this type of evaluation are its subjectivity and limitations when used with clothing, as different garments have different effects on human perception.
Conventional computer vision methods cannot well match human performance in fabric smoothness classification because it is a subjective assessment based on comprehensive visual perception. Fabric smoothness appearance evaluation plays an important role in the textile and apparel industry. After all, objectively evaluating fabric smoothness is a challenging task. In current objective methods based on image analysis, fabric smoothness is a subjective concept related to human vision perception. In this respect, the features that define the fabric surface structure have been widely used. While developing new methods, the relationship between the spatial masking effect in the human visual system and the fabric smoothness perceived by the human is analyzed and effective methods are developed for the objective fabric smoothness evaluation.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services to evaluate the smoothness appearance of fabrics after cleaning the products, within the scope of ISO 7768 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
