The ISO 105-E04 standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), defines a test method for determining the color resistance of textile products of all types and forms to human perspiration.

Color fastness to sweat means that the dyed fabric does not stain or lose its color (fading) when sweating. This test method is one of the basic test methods for determining the color fastness of textile products. Since textile products are in contact with the skin for a long time in daily life and coexist with sweat secreted from the skin, they cause dyes to pass to the skin. In this respect, the color fastness of clothing to perspiration is an important test method.
Along with the ISO 105-E04 standard, the AATCC 15 standard developed by the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and the JIS L 0848 standard developed by the Japan Industrial Standards Organization (JIS) are the most commonly referenced standards for determining color fastness to sweat. The fundamental principles of these three standard tests are the same. When comparing the technical parameters, there are both similarities and significant differences. However, the preparation of man-made sweat significantly affects the test results.
The adjacent fabric specified in the ISO 105-E04 standard is a single-fiber adjacent fabric or a multi-fiber adjacent fiber. If a monofilament adjacent fabric is used, one of the adjacent fabrics selected is made of fibers of the same type as the sample, and the other selected is made of the corresponding fibers specified in the standard. If the sample is a blended or woven fabric, main content fibers are selected for the first sample, while small content fibers are selected for the second sample.
Essentially, color fastness testing of textile materials is the most common and problematic test in the textile industry. In addition to color fastness testing against perspiration, tests are conducted against staining, abrasion, washing, light, and many other color fastness tests.
Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses, and evaluations our organization provides for businesses in various sectors, we also offer color fastness testing services for textile products, specifically focusing on determining color fastness to sweat, in accordance with the ISO 105-E04 standard, utilizing a trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
