ISO 105-C08 Textiles - Color Fastness Tests - Part C08: Phosphate-Free Reference Detergent Test with Low-Temperature Bleach Activator

The ISO 105-C08 standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), defines a test method for determining the color resistance of textile products of any type and form against domestic or commercial washing procedures used for normal household items, using a phosphate-free reference detergent containing low-temperature bleach activator.

In a single test, the color loss and staining due to desorption (separation from the surface) or abrasive effect are very close to those of a single household or commercial laundry wash. This test method does not reflect the effect of optical brighteners found in some commercial laundry products.

In this test method, unlike the washing test methods described in the ISO 105-C10 standard, it is aimed to reflect the effect of washing with domestic or commercial laundry procedures.

Phosphate-free detergent powder is essentially a completely homogeneous cleaning product that ensures excellent batch-to-batch continuity and promotes superior shelf life. It is usually spray dried to avoid the risk of this product separating into its components, which eliminates the possibility of inconsistent results. These products are produced for use in the tests described in the ISO 6330 standard. Powder and formulation containing fluorescent brightening agent are strictly controlled to ensure that they meet the specification of the relevant standard.

Phosphates in detergent refer to the use of phosphates as an ingredient in a detergent product. These compounds are used to make detergents more efficient. However, the disadvantage of using phosphates is that they remain in the wastewater and cause nutrient pollution. Phosphates have low toxicity and the use of phosphates in detergents is banned in the European Union, the USA and many other countries.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies given by our company for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the color fastness tests carried out for textile products within the scope of ISO 105-C08 standard, including low temperature bleach activator. It also provides testing services to determine color fastness to domestic and commercial laundry using phosphate-free reference detergents.
