Therefore, it is recommended that the method not be used for arbitration unless it can be demonstrated that it measures at an agreed level of precision between the buyer and seller.
On the other hand, the use of the permeability coefficient, which includes the conversion of the gas transmission rate to the unit thickness basis, is not recommended unless the thickness-transmission rate relationship is known. Even in essentially homogeneous structures, changes in the thermal history can affect the permeability.
