An individual-level certification program is defined in the IPC-A-610 standard published by the Printed Circuits Institute (IPC), a trade association established to standardize the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies. This certification enables a person to become an IPC certified instructor in the acceptability of electronic assemblies based on, among others, soldering criteria, surface mount criteria, and jumper assembly requirements.

This certification is for people responsible for the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies, such as quality supervisors, engineering supervisors, and production supervisors.
This certificate program is two-stage. The following people can take the challenge test to become certified:
Certified instructors are then eligible to train practitioners on IPC-A-610. Certified IPC instructors are considered certified for two years after completion of training, after which they must recertify.
The IPC-A-610 standard is today the most widely used inspection standard in the electronics industry and is of international value as the source of end product acceptance criteria for consumer and high reliability printed circuit assemblies.
The IPC 610 courses are designed for partners interested in many aspects of the electronics assembly business. Personnel from sales, management, purchasing, inspection, engineering and project management are eligible to become IPC-A-610 certified. No manual soldering instructions are given in the trainings. However, these trainings include a hands-on part as part of the training for the inspection of cables and terminals as well as printed circuit boards.
The IPC-A-610 standard contains requirements and guidelines to help manufacturers of printed circuit board assembly ensure that their production processes meet acceptable quality levels. To help facilitate compliance, several IPC classifications have been defined with different acceptance criteria.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services within the framework of the acceptability approval program of electronic assemblies, within the scope of the IPC-A-610 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
