The TS 5548 standard covers polyvinyl chloride (PVC) monolithic soles and heels, side soles and heels produced by direct injection molding method or casting method. The soles and heels, claws of shoes made of PVC, and solid soles and heels in high women's shoes are not covered by this standard.

The two standards based on the preparation of this standard are:
The DIN ISO 4649 standard, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and replacing the DIN 53516 standard, describes two test methods for determining the wear resistance of rubber using a rotating cylindrical drum device. These methods aim to determine the volume loss resulting from the abrasive effect of a test piece rubbing against a plate of a specific degree of abrasiveness. Method A is for a non-rotating test piece, and Method B is for a rotating test piece. For each method, the result is reported as relative volume loss or wear resistance index. These test methods are suitable for comparative testing, quality control, specification conformity testing, and research and development. Wear loss is generally more homogeneous when using a rotating test piece, as the entire surface of the test piece is in contact with the abrasive plate throughout the test duration.
An Indian standard, IS 1769, defines the requirements and defines a test method for PVC full hard soles, half soles and heels, with or without heels, which are produced by direct injection or bonding and marketed as finished products.
For the purposes of the TS 5548 standard, wear resistance is expressed as the relative volume loss compared to an abrasive plate calibrated using a standard reference compound, or as an index of wear resistance compared to a reference.
Our organization also provides testing services for PVC soles and heels within the scope of TS 5548 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
