The EN ISO 1675 standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), describes a test method for determining the density of liquid resins using a pycnometer.

Liquid resin is a synthetic liquid that dries quickly to a durable solid when mixed with a curing agent. The most commonly used liquid resins are polyester, silicone and polyurethane.
Liquid epoxy resins have a unique combination of properties when properly formulated and cured. These resins are suitable for use in applications such as coatings, civil engineering, composites, adhesives, electronic and electrical castings, and fiber sizing.
One of the most common applications of liquid resin is casting. Resin casting is a process in which liquid resin is combined with a curing liquid and then poured into a mold.
Epoxy resins are used in the manufacture of adhesives, plastics, paints, coatings, primers, sealants, flooring and other products and materials used in building and construction work. Epoxy refers to any of the essential components or cured end products of epoxy resins.
Resin or epoxy, the main difference between these two types of adhesive is the drying time. Both epoxy and resin adhesives must be mixed before use, but epoxy cures much faster than resin adhesive. While epoxy adhesive dries in a maximum of half an hour, resin adhesives take about 8-10 hours to cure.
What all of the resins have in common is that they are a large, generic group of polymer resins. They are non-toxic and are not renewable or solvent-free.
In the pycnometer method used to determine the density of liquid resins, a simple wet pycnometer is used where water or another liquid replaces the sample, and the result is determined gravimetrically. First, the resin sample is drawn into a calibrated pycnometer with a known weight. The weight of the resin is measured when it reaches a certain reference temperature. The density of the resin is then calculated based on this weight.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for the determination of the density of plastic liquid resins by pycnometer method, within the scope of EN ISO 1675 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
