ISO 15630-1 Steel for Reinforcing and Prestressing Concrete - Test Methods - Part 1: Reinforcing Bars, Rods and Wires

ISO 15630-1 Steel for Reinforcing and Prestressing Concrete - Test Methods - Part 1: Reinforcing Bars, Rods and Wires

In the ISO 15630-1 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), chemical and mechanical test methods applicable to reinforcement bars, rods and wires for concrete and measurement methods of geometric properties are explained. This standard does not cover the sampling conditions covered in the product standards. A list of agreement options between the interested parties is in the annex to the standard (Annex A).

ISO 15630-1 Steel for Reinforcing and Prestressing Concrete - Test Methods - Part 1: Reinforcing Bars, Rods and Wires

The purpose of ISO 15630 standards is to provide all relevant test methods for the strengthening and prestressing of steels in a single standard series. This standard includes standard test methods as well as special test methods that are not commonly used in routine testing and should only be considered for the relevant product. Other international standards for testing metals are generally referred to as they are applicable.

Essentially, the ISO 15630 standard consists of the following sections under the main heading "Steel for reinforcement and prestressing of concrete - Test methods":

  • ISO 15630-1 Part 1: Reinforcing bars, rods and wire
  • ISO 15630-2 Part 2: Welded fabric and trusses
  • ISO 15630-3 Part 3: Prestressing of steel

The types of prestressed steel commonly used for reinforcement of concrete are: beams, cables, wires (flat wire and recessed wire), wires (two wire, three wire and seven wire wire) and bars. The prestressed steel types are: cold worked prestressed steel, stress relieving prestressed steel and strain annealed prestressed steel.

The steel used in prestressed concrete are wires, ropes, solid bars. Prestressed concrete uses high tensile strength steel, which is produced by increasing the carbon content in the steel. These bars reinforce the concrete when under heavy stress, which helps keep the structure strong and secure. Steel bars are placed in a form and stretched at both ends as the concrete is poured. This gives the final product a higher tensile strength.

Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of ISO 15630-1 standard, for steel reinforcement bars, rods and wires used for reinforcement and prestressing of concrete. It also provides testing services.
