The ISO 29862 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), defines a series of test methods for determining the peel-off properties of self-adhesive tapes. These tests are:

Standard appendices contain further variations in the test protocol based on specific conditions.
The test methods described in the standard provide a method for assessing the uniformity of adhesion of a particular type of self-adhesive tape. Evaluation can be within a tape roll, between rolls or between production batches.
Changes in tape backing and adhesive affect the sample's response in tests. Therefore , these methods cannot be used to identify specific causes of non-uniformity.
These test methods are not considered suitable for test tapes with relatively rigid backings, rigid liners, or backings that show high resilience at low forces. Because these properties result in a high variability for the test response, which is not a true indicator of the true nature of the adhesive bond.
The ISO 29862 standard also contains guidance for the use of these test methods (Table 1 Methods and appendices). This table shows the peel angle and test temperature for each test method.
For purposes of this document, the concept of peel adhesion refers to the force required to peel a strip of adhesive tape from a given substrate at a given angle and speed.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides test services for the determination of the peel adhesion properties of self-adhesive tapes within the scope of ISO 29862 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
