While preparing this standard, the following European standard was taken as a basis: EN 1062-1 Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wall and concrete - Classification. This European standard contains a general system for the definition of coating materials and coating systems for the protection, decoration and protection of new and old, coated or uncoated masonry and concrete. It also includes a classification system based on certain physical properties. This standard applies to all coating materials and coating systems for external walls and concrete, including those used in external thermal insulation systems.
