The ASTM D3029 standard, published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), defines test methods for determining the relative ranking of materials according to the energy required to crack or break flat, rigid plastic specimens under various impact conditions from a free-falling stack or weight. These test methods are primarily used to determine the impact resistance of thermoplastic pipes and fittings under specific impact conditions using a tube (falling weight). This test method utilizes three interchangeable striking noses on the tube, differing in geometric configuration. Two specimen holders are defined , differing in machine design and the method of holding and striking the specimen. Each test method has its own specific application. For example, in one test method, the free-falling weight (tup) is allowed to directly strike a supported specimen. A dart with a fixed weight can be dropped from various heights, or an impact with an adjustable weight can be provided. Definitions of the plastic terms used in these test methods are found in ASTM D883 and ASTM D1600 standards.

In advanced laboratories, it performs impact tests on hard materials using the methods described in the ASTM D3029 standard as well as various standards. These laboratories provide the equipment and environmental conditions necessary to ensure that your material meets the specification and impact conditions in the field.
The impact strength test of flat, rigid plastic specimens is designed to determine the deformation response of plastics to load under essentially multiaxial deformation conditions at impact velocities. In addition, the test results provide a measure of the velocity sensitivity of the material to impact.
The main difference between ISO and ASTM impact tests is that in ISO tests, each pendulum hammer is used in the range of 10-80 percent of its nominal initial potential energy, while in ASTM tests up to 85 percent is allowed.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, our organization, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, is the standard for determining the impact resistance of flat, hard plastic samples through a tube (falling weight) within the scope of the ASTM D3029 standard. It also provides testing services.
