The EN ISO 2114 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes two test methods for polyester resins and binders used in paints and varnishes:

This standard does not apply to phenolic resins.
The test methods presented are intended to provide quality control data for the acceptance or rejection of such products in accordance with standard requirements, as well as for use in research and development to monitor the completion of the polymerization reaction.
For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply:
In Method A, a weighed amount of resin is dissolved in a solvent mixture. The solution is potentiometrically titrated and reacted with a standard solution of potassium hydroxide in ethanol. Then, the milligram amount of potassium hydroxide used to neutralize 1 gram of resin is calculated. This method is recommended for binders in paints and varnishes.
In Method B, the weighed amount of resin is dissolved in a solvent mixture containing water and allowed to react, hydrolyzing the free anhydrides for 20 minutes before titrating potentiometrically with a standard potassium hydroxide solution in ethanol. The amount of potassium hydroxide used to neutralize 1 gram of resin is then calculated in milligrams. This method is useful for unsaturated polyester resins containing significant amounts of free anhydrides.
Partial acid value for plastics (polyester resins) and paints and varnishes (binders) within the scope of EN ISO 2114 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors. and also provides testing services for the determination of the total acid value.
