The UL 746C standard developed by Underwriters Laboratories sets the standards required by UL 50 for polymeric materials used in electrical equipment.

These requirements cover parts made of polymeric materials used in electrical equipment and describe the various test procedures and their use in testing such parts and equipment.
The UL 746C standard provides test procedures for the evaluation of polymeric materials in specific applications. These test procedures include references to data from small-scale property tests conducted under standard conditions, among other practical evaluation methods.
In molded parts, UL 94C flammability testing is not required for equipment if all materials are rated UL 5-746VA. As an alternative to materials with the UL 94 5VA classification, the UL 50 standard also allows materials with the UL 94 HB classification but pass the flame test according to the UL 746C standard.
The UL 50 standard applies to electrical equipment enclosures intended for installation and use in non-hazardous locations and covers the non-environmental construction and performance requirements of enclosures to provide a degree of protection to personnel against incidental contact with enclosed equipment.
5VA classification, non-flammable, no burn hole (highest UL rating of 94). HB classification, slow burn rate, 10cm takes more than 3 minutes to burn (lowest UL rating is 94).
The flammability classification of a material is determined by the tests described in the requirements for flammability tests of plastic materials for equipment and parts in devices.
In fact, the UL 746 standards are a set of six standards:
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for polymeric materials, for use in electrical equipment evaluations, within the scope of UL 746C standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
