EN 13687 Concrete Structures - Products and Systems for Protection and Repair - Test Methods Determination of Thermal Conformity

The EN 13687 standard, a European standard, provides test methods for determining the thermal compatibility of products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures.

EN 13687 Concrete Structures - Products and Systems for Protection and Repair - Test Methods Determination of Thermal Conformity

This standard consists of five parts under the heading "Concrete structures - Products and systems for protection and repair - Test methods - Determination of thermal suitability":

  • EN 13687-1 Part 1: Freeze/thaw cycle with de-icing salt immersion
  • EN 13687-2 Part 2: Repeated thunderstorms (thermal shock)
  • EN 13687-3 Part 3: Thermal cycling without de-icing salt effect
  • EN 13687-4 Part 4: Dry thermal cycle
  • EN 13687-5 Part 5: Resistance to temperature shock

The EN 13687 standard consists of these five parts that evaluate the thermal compatibility of repair products and systems, including mortars and concretes and surface protection systems used for the repair and protection of concrete structures.

Generally, a thermal insulation board plaster mortar reinforced with polymeric and fiber additives designed for application is used on thermal insulation boards and this mortar is expected to be produced within the scope of EN 13687 standard. This mortar is mainly used as a surface plaster on the boards that are expected to be applied for thermal insulation purposes on the interior and exterior of the buildings.

This adhesive mortar is used for bonding thermal insulation boards applied to surfaces such as concrete, brick, cement-based plaster, gas concrete on interior and exterior facades. Heat insulation boards must be strongly adhered to the surface, strong, clean and dry. No gaps should be left between these plates, if any, they should be filled using the same plate and the surface should be smoothed.

Wall internal thermal insulation is a type of insulation made with various thermal insulation boards, one side of which is composited with gypsum board. On the other hand, external thermal insulation on the walls is the thermal insulation of the external walls with plastered exterior thermal insulation systems containing thermal insulation boards.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures within the scope of EN 13687 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
