EN 10204 Metallic Products - Types of Inspection Certificates

The EN 10204 standard, a European standard, defines different types of inspection documents that are provided to the buyer in accordance with the requirements of the order for the delivery of all metallic products, regardless of the method of manufacture, for example, plates, plates, bars, forgings and castings. This standard may also apply to non-metallic products. This standard is used together with the product specifications specifying the technical delivery conditions of the products. The list of information to be included in the inspection documents is contained in the appropriate standards. A summary of the different inspection documents is included in the standard annex (Annex A).

EN 10204 Metallic Products - Types of Inspection Certificates

The EN 10204 standard describes the different types of inspection documents provided to the buyer for the delivery of all metallic products, in accordance with the order requirements.

Inspection documents can be prepared in two ways: based on non-specific inspection or based on private inspection. Non-specific inspection is inspection carried out by the manufacturer, according to its own procedures, to determine whether products conform to the requirements of the order. There are two documents in this examination:

  • Declaration of conformity to the Type 2.1 order. Document in which the manufacturer declares that the products supplied comply with the requirements of the order, without including test results.
  • Type 2.2 test report. Document where the manufacturer declares that the products supplied comply with the order requirements and provides test results based on non-specific inspection.

Special inspection is the inspection performed to verify that the products to be supplied or the test units of which the supplied products are part, conform to the order requirements prior to delivery (according to the product specification). In this examination, there are two documents:

  • Type 3.1 Inspection certificate. A document issued by the manufacturer, in which he declares that the products supplied are in compliance with the order conditions and gives the test results. The test unit and the tests to be performed are determined by the product specification, legal regulations or order.
  • Type 3.2 Inspection certificate. Document prepared jointly by the manufacturer's authorized inspection representative and the buyer's authorized inspection representative or inspector. In these documents, it is declared that the products supplied comply with the terms of the order and that the test results are provided.
