The standard "ISO 1461 Hot dip galvanized coatings on manufactured iron and steel products - Specification and test methods" developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) describes the general properties of hot dip galvanized coatings and test methods for hot dip galvanized coatings applied by immersing fabricated iron and steel articles (including certain castings) in a zinc melt (containing not more than 2 percent of other metals). This standard does not apply to:

Individual product standards may include this standard for galvanized coatings by specifying the number or may include it with product-specific modifications. Different requirements may also be made for galvanized coatings on products designed to meet specific regulatory requirements. This standard does not apply to the finishing or additional coating of hot-dip galvanized articles.
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply:
This standard specifies requirements for the ingredients of the zinc melt used to apply the galvanized coating to articles. The chemical composition and surface condition (finish and roughness) of the base metal, the mass of the parts and the galvanizing conditions can affect the appearance, thickness, texture and physical and mechanical properties of the galvanized coating. This standard does not specify any requirements on these points. Guidance on these parameters is given in ISO 14713-2.
The hot dip galvanizing bath shall primarily contain molten zinc. The total of other elements defined in ISO 752, EN 1179 or EN 13283, excluding tin and iron, in the molten zinc shall not exceed 1,5 percent by mass. This information shall be provided by the purchaser. Ventilation and drainage shall be provided in accordance with the annex of this standard (Annex B9.
The acceptance inspection may be carried out by or on behalf of the purchaser and shall be carried out before the products leave the galvaniser's custody, unless otherwise specified by the purchaser at the time of order. The acceptance inspection shall consist of an evaluation of the appearance of the surface of the galvanised product and a test of the thickness of the galvanised coating. Adhesion tests are not normally carried out and are only tested by agreement.
If the purchaser requests, a control sample for random thickness testing shall be taken from each inspection lot selected for testing. Unless otherwise agreed, the minimum number of products from each inspection lot forming the control sample shall be in accordance with the table.
On acceptance inspection, the visible significant surfaces of all hot dip galvanized articles shall be free from bubbles, roughness, sharp points and uncoated areas when first examined with normal or corrected vision from a distance of at least 1 m.
Our organization has a strong staff that closely follows the developments in the world in the field of science and technology and constantly improves itself. Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies provided for businesses in various sectors, there are also test services in accordance with the standard “ISO 1461 Hot dip galvanized coatings on manufactured iron and steel products - Specifications and test methods”.
