ASTM D814-95 Standard Specification for Nickel-Chromium-Iron-Molybdenum-Tungsten Alloy (UNS N06920) Garments, Sewing, and Ribbon

The “ASTM D814-95 Standard Specification for Nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum-tungsten Alloy (UNS N06920) for Dress, Sewing and Strip” standard, published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) , describes the requirements for nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum-tungsten alloy UNS N06920 in rolled sheet, plate and strip form for general corrosion service.

ASTM D814-95 Standard Specification for Nickel-Chromium-Iron-Molybdenum-Tungsten Alloy (UNS N06920) Garments, Sewing, and Ribbon

The following types of products are covered by this specification:

  • Sheet and strip: Hot or cold rolled, annealed and free from scale unless solution annealed in an atmosphere that gives a bright surface
  • Plate: Hot rolled, solution annealed and descaled

For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply:

  • Plate refers to a material with a thickness of 4,76 mm and above.
  • Sheet and strip refers to a material with a thickness of less than 4,76 mm.

Orders for materials under this standard must include the following information:

  • Alloy.
  • Dimensions: Thickness (in decimals of an inch), width, and length (inches or fractions of an inch).
  • Certification: It should state whether a test results report is required.
  • Optional requirement - Plate: How the plate will be cut must be specified.
  • Purchasing audit: It should be stated which tests or audits will be witnessed.
  • Samples for product (control) analysis: It should be stated whether samples will be provided or not.

The material must conform to the chemical composition in the table given in the standard. If a product (control) analysis has been performed by the purchaser, the material must conform to the specified conditions subject to the allowable tolerances shown in the table.

In terms of mechanical properties, the material must comply with the room temperature tensile properties specified in the table.

The density of 8,39 g/cm3 is used to calculate the weight of the material covered by this standard. The changes allowed in the plate thickness shall be as specified in the tables given in the standard. The changes allowed in the plate and strip thickness shall be as specified in the table. The thickness is measured with a micrometer spindle at any edge for material 25,4 mm or more in width and 25,4 mm or more in width at any point for material less than 9,525 mm in width.

The permitted changes in the width of rectangular plates shall be as specified in the table. The permitted differences in width for plates and strips shall be as specified in the table.

The permissible variations in the length of the rectangular plate shall be as specified in the table. Plates and strips can be ordered with a slight length, a variation of 0 mm is allowed on a given length with a tolerance of minus 3.175 in the bowl.

The curvature (beam depth) of flat sheet, strip and plate in the edge direction should not exceed the value described in the standard.

The evenness of the wrapped strips depends on the agreement between the manufacturer and the buyer.

The material must be uniform in quality and condition, free from stains and serious defects.

For samples, the batch for chemical analysis shall consist of a single heat. A number of sheets, plates or strips for mechanical testing are defined as material obtained from a single heat in the same condition and with the specified thickness.

A representative sample is taken from each heat for chemical analysis during bulk or subsequent processing. Product (control) analysis is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Representative samples are taken from each finished material batch for mechanical testing.

Nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum-tungsten alloy is one of several metal alloys marketed. It is generally available in almost any volume, as bars, ingots, strip, wire, shot, sheet, and foil.

Among the numerous testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies that our organization has provided for businesses in various sectors, it also provides certification and testing services defined in the “ASTM D814-95 Standard Specification for Nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum-tungsten alloy (UNS N06920) garments, seams and ribbons” standard with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
