Modulus of Elasticity (N/mm2) Tests

Modulus of Elasticity (N/mm2) Tests

The modulus of elasticity (or Young's modulus) is a measurement of the rate of change of strain as a function of stress. Represents the slope of the straight line portion of a stress-strain curve. Regarding the tensile test, this module is called the tensile module.

Modulus of Elasticity (N/mm2) Tests

This test method is used to determine the behavior of a sample under axial tensile load. Common tensile test results include elastic limit, tensile strength, yield point, yield strength, elongation, and Young's modulus. Young's modulus is commonly reported as N/mm2 or megapascal (MPA).

Tensile testing (tensile testing) is probably the most basic type of mechanical testing performed on material. This test is simple and fully standardized. By pulling on something, it is very quickly determined how the material will respond to applied forces in tension. While pulling the material, its strength and how long it stretches are determined.

A hard material such as diamond has a high Young's modulus and changes its shape very little under an elastic load. A flexible material such as rubber has a low Young's modulus and changes its shape significantly. A hard material requires high loads to deform it elastically. However, it should not be confused with a strong material that requires high loads to deform or break permanently. The stiffness of a component refers to how much it bends under a given load. This depends not only on the Young's modulus of the material, but also on how it is loaded and on the shape and size of the component. Specific stiffness is Young's modulus divided by density (called specific modulus).

The standard generally referenced in these tests is ASTM E111-17, the standard test method standard for Young's modulus, tangent modulus, and chord modulus. Developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), this standard covers the determination of Young's modulus, tangent modulus, and beam modulus of structural materials. This test method is limited to temperatures and stresses at which creep is negligible compared to the strain and elastic behavior produced immediately after loading.

Our organization also provides elasticity module testing services with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
