The test methods described in this annex to this standard have been specifically designed to allow direct application to finished zippers to provide assurance that a zipper conforming to the requirements will perform its intended function satisfactorily. An appendix to the standard also provides information on sampling procedures for large quantities of zippers.
The standard also includes performance levels for color fastness to washing, dry cleaning and water, and dimensional stability to washing and dry cleaning.
This standard applies to zippers for general use, not to pressure-sealed zippers for specialized use, eg for diving suits.
The EN 16732 standard is the first European Union standard of its kind and has replaced the hitherto in force British-based standard (BS 3084). The new standard is based on existing standards in the industry as well as the specifications and test methods applied so far. This standard provides a comprehensive overview of the current requirements for zippers. The overall aim is to ensure that consumers receive the highest quality and standardized zippers on the market.
A few aspects of this standard that are superior to the BS 3084 standard are as follows:
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services to determine the properties of sliding fasteners (zippers) within the scope of EN 16732 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
