The ISO 15105-1 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), provides two test methods for determining the gas transmission rate of single-layer plastic film or sheet and multi-layer structures under a differential pressure.

Within the framework of this standard, a pressure sensor is used in the first method and a gas chromatograph in the other method to measure the amount of gas leaking from a test sample.
Essentially, the ISO 15105 standard consists of two parts under the heading "Plastics - Film and coating - Determination of gas transmission rate":
The gas transmission rate mentioned in this standard expresses the volume of gas passing through a plastic material per unit area and unit time under unit partial pressure difference between the two sides of a material. If the gas used is oxygen, the value obtained is the oxygen transmission rate.
Again, the gas permeability or gas permeability coefficient mentioned in this standard is expressed as the volume of gas per unit area and unit time passing through a unit thickness plastic material under unit partial pressure difference between the two sides of a material. The value obtained here is a physical property of a polymeric material, however, film preparation differences that affect the orientation and crystal structure of the polymer have an effect on the permeability properties.
Briefly, gas permeability test methods are based on the differential pressure method and are professionally applied in determining the gas transmission rate of plastic films, composite films, high barrier materials, sheets and metal foils at different temperatures, as well as determining the solubility coefficient, diffusion coefficient and permeability coefficient.
This universal test method is applied to almost all types of gases to determine the gas transmission rate from flat plastic materials such as films, sheets, laminates, co-extruded or coated materials under differential pressure.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides differential pressure testing services for the determination of gas transmission rate in plastics films and coatings within the scope of ISO 15105-1 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. .
