CEE-ONU 13 Uniform Provisions Regarding Braking Approval of Vehicles in Categories M, N and O

Regulation 13, published by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (CEE-ONU), contains uniform provisions regarding the approval of vehicles in categories M, N and O for braking.

CEE-ONU 13 Uniform Provisions Regarding Braking Approval of Vehicles in Categories M, N and O

This legal regulation applies to vehicles of categories M2, M3, N and O with regard to braking systems. However, it does not cover the following tools:

  • Vehicles that cannot exceed 25 km/h by design
  • Trailers that are not allowed to be attached to motor vehicles that can exceed 25 km/h due to their construction
  • Vehicles adapted to be driven by the disabled

In addition, subject to the applicable requirements of this regulation, the equipment, devices, methods and conditions specified in Annex 1 are excluded.

For the purposes of the said legal regulation,

  • The term brake system refers to all components whose function is to gradually reduce the speed of a moving vehicle, stop it or keep it stationary if stationary.
  • The expression control refers to the component directly actuated by the driver to supply the transmission with the energy necessary to brake or regulate its motion. This is the mostThe energy may be muscle energy of the driver or energy from another driver controlled source or, where appropriate, the kinetic energy of a trailer or a combination of these various forms of energy.
  • The term brake refers to the component in which the forces that oppose the vehicle's motion are developed. The brake can be friction type, electrical, fluid or by the action of the motor.
  • The expression different types of braking systems means systems with fundamental differences between them. These differences are particularly relevant to: systems whose components have different properties, systems where the properties of the materials that make up any component are different, or where their components have a different shape or size, or systems whose components are combined differently.
  • The term part of a braking system refers to one of the isolated components that together make up the braking device.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies that our organization provides for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of CEE-ONU 13 regulation, testing services related to braking of vehicles in categories M, N and O. gives.
