Developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the SAE USCAR 36 standard defines the size and performance requirements for aftermarket spin-on (screw thread) oil filters intended for use in gasoline engines. Filters meeting this standard are also considered suitable for use in some diesel applications.

Screw-on oil filters are actually a complete filtering system. In this type of filter, which is screwed to the vehicle, the filtering material is located inside the filter box (cartridge). In these oil filters, the filter structure has been optimized and both the separation performance and the impurity holding capacity have been significantly increased.
These filters are widely used. It is generally mounted on the body of the engine. Removing and installing spin-on filters, which are very robust due to their structure, is quite an event. The possibility of foreign material leaking into the engine while changing the filter is very low.
Filters that meet dimensional limits meet oil filter requirements for engine and vehicle designs. Filters that meet performance requirements are generally durable enough to support oil change intervals of 10 miles. Filters that meet or exceed these specification requirements in terms of both size and performance are tested and documented under the SAE USCAR 36 standard.
Spin-on (screw thread) oil filters produced in accordance with this standard contain the following high quality components:
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides dimension and performance properties testing services for after-market gasoline engine oil filters within the scope of SAE USCAR 36 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
