Developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the SAE J1128 standard includes low-voltage primary cable intended for use in surface vehicle electrical systems at a nominal system voltage of 60 Volts direct current (25 Volts alternating current) or less. The test methods described in this standard are for quality cables for nominal applications with limited exposure to liquids and physical abuse.

The test methods defined in the framework of this standard are:
Generally, low voltage cables are used in electrical equipment with voltage ratings between 50 and 1000 Volts for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 Volts for direct current. In this way, the equipment is not exposed to high electrical stress.
Primary cable is the most widely used general purpose cable for automotive wiring and electrical projects. The primary cable has a smooth surface, making it ideal for cable looms or other wiring management. Primary cable for the automotive industry is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of a variety of automotive applications.
All primary automotive cables must meet SAE J1128. Some primary cables are rated for general use such as circuit breakers, while others are used in more specialized applications. For example, GXL primary cable is mostly used in trucks and trailers. SXL primary cable is used in applications where high heat resistance and high temperature performance are required.
A wide variety of automotive cables are produced by manufacturers, including battery cable, vehicle speaker cable, and fusible links.
Our organization also provides testing services for low voltage primary cable within the scope of SAE J1128 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
