Fiat-Lancia 50440 Determination of Mass - Fabrics, Waterproof Fabrics, Leather, Artificial Leathers and Vinyl Sheets

Fiat-Lancia 50440 Determination of Mass - Fabrics, Waterproof Fabrics, Leather, Artificial Leathers and Vinyl Sheets

In the Fiat-Lancia 50440 standard, published jointly by Fiat automobile company and its affiliate Lancia automobile company, the requirements for waterproof fabrics, leathers, artificial leather and vinyl layers used in the interior of automobiles are explained and test methods are presented.

Fiat-Lancia 50440 Determination of Mass - Fabrics, Waterproof Fabrics, Leather, Artificial Leathers and Vinyl Sheets

The mass properties of fabric, leather, artificial leather and vinyl layers used in automobile production are effective in the performance and quality of these materials. This standard describes the requirements for the quantification of the water mass and extractable substance contained in a textile material. These requirements are effective in determining the mass of a textile material, determining the linear, area and bulk densities of textile materials, and determining the mass composition of a blend of textile fibers.

Mass determination is generally carried out in two ways: mass per unit length and mass per unit area of material. These methods apply to all textile materials, regardless of their composition, i.e. whether they are made of cotton, wool, silk or man-made fibers or a mixture of two or more of these fibers.

When determining the mass per unit length, the material is conditioned to moisture balance under standard atmospheric conditions and then the mass is determined. When determining the mass of the material per unit area, the oven-dry mass of the material is determined and the commercial moisture recovery value of the material is added to it.

For the purposes of this standard,

  • Commercial moisture recovery refers to a value that is officially considered a recovery for use with the kiln-dried mass to calculate the delivery of any particular textile material.
  • Conditional mass refers to the mass of a textile material conditioned in a standard atmosphere for testing.
  • Moisture recovery refers to the mass of moisture found in a textile material determined as a percentage of its oven-dried mass.
  • The expression kiln dry mass refers to the constant mass of the textile material obtained by drying at a temperature of 105 to 110 degrees.

Our company, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of Fiat-Lancia 50440 standard, for fabrics, waterproof fabrics, leather, artificial leather and vinyl layers. It also provides mass determination services.
