A retention system for retaining a light source lamp in a recessed luminaire includes a retaining spring portion pivotally connected to a light source holding support of the recessed luminaire. The light source holding bracket is designed to house a light source lamp inside. In addition, the holding system has a handle that extends from the holding spring and is integrally formed with it. The retaining spring portion forces the handle portion against the light source holding support so that the handle portion engages the light source lamp in the light source retaining support and is used to securely hold the light source lamp inside the light source retaining support in the recessed luminaire. applies an active load.
