Four heavy metals, lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury and cadmium, should not be used in automotive parts and materials. The regions and target vehicles are shown in the table given in the standard. They may be intentionally omitted when the homogeneous material contains heavy metals within the range given in the table. The heavy metal content should be analyzed according to the analytical standards given in the annex of the standard.

Although heavy metals are prohibited, they can be used exceptionally before the expiration date of the exemption specified in each regulation.

According to the mercury regulation 2017/852/EU issued in the European Union countries, it is prohibited to produce, import, export and use in the production process products with added mercury. Mercury compound means any substance consisting solely of mercury atoms and one or more atoms of other chemical elements that can be separated into different components by chemical reactions. Mercury-added product means a product or product component that contains mercury or a mercury compound intentionally added.

Flame retardants shall not be used in vehicles after each application date shown in the table.

The use of PFOS (perfluoro octane sulfonate) must meet the requirements in the table.

For PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and their mixtures and fractions containing PAHs the requirements in the table must be met.

According to regional asbestos regulations, after each banned date, cars sold in that region will not contain asbestos.

The copper in the brake friction material must comply with the requirements in the table.

TSCA prohibits the manufacture, import, processing, and distribution in the United States of products containing five substances that correspond to the table provided in the standard.

In accordance with the electrical appliances and consumer products safety control law in force in Korea, the material exceeding the material allowed in the table should not be used in vehicle leather products sold in Korea.

If a biocidal product is used in a part or material sold in the European Union, the active substance must be approved by ECHA (European Chemical Agency) according to the biocidal products regulation 528/2012/EU according to the product type.
