ISUZU ISC-F20-001B Thermo-Cycling Test Procedure
The standard “ISUZU ISC-F20-001B Thermo-cycling test procedure” developed by ISUZU, one of the leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles and diesel engines in Japan and the world, describes different environmental cycles or thermo-cycles that can be used to test the effect on the performance or dimensions of different substrates or coatings. However, this standard does not specify any stress crack tests and corrosion cycle tests, which are a combination of thermo-cycles and contact with chemicals or solvents.

The equipment used in these tests includes:
- Air circulating oven: Air circulating oven that can maintain specified temperatures.
- Cold room: The cold room should be designed and constructed to maintain the cycle temperature.
- Humidity chamber: Condensing, rotary-type or non-condensing, fixed-type test equipment should be used for the following test cycles:
- Rotary type test equipment: As for moisture resistance, there is a rotary method that gradually rotates towards condensation on the test piece surface (J IS K 5600-7-2 standard). Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be carried out using the rotary method.
- Fixed type test equipment: The test chamber shall have the function of preventing dew condensation and shall be maintained under all conditions specified in this standard.
This test can be used with different environmental cycles or thermal cycles to test the effect on the performance or dimensions of different substrates or coatings.
Unless otherwise specified, test samples shall be taken from parts at least 24 hours after production. Before testing, test samples shall be conditioned for more than 8703 hours under standard laboratory conditions specified in JIS Z 23 (temperature 5 degrees plus/minus 65 degrees and relative humidity 10 percent plus/minus 24 percent).
Unless otherwise stated, the number of test samples must be at least three.
The test panel/piece orientation shall be such that it will not be covered by shingles or shields from another test specimen or test equipment. Test specimens to be evaluated for bending and dimensional compatibility shall be assembled in a production manner. Thermal cycling testing shall then be performed as specified in this standard. The test cycle conditions to be used shall be specified by the appropriate coding and shall be as follows:
- A - External parts and materials
- B - Exterior / interior parts and materials
- C - Exterior / interior parts and materials
- D - Internal parts and materials
- E - Paint film / sealants
Unless otherwise stated, the test is run for 5 cycles. However, the loop E test is run for 10 cycles.
