The GMW 14876 standard developed by General Motors describes a procedure for evaluating tire force transmittance and rim lateral stiffness of passenger car and light-duty truck wheels.

Transmissibility of tire and wheel force is a factor in structure-induced road noise performance. This standard describes an application of finite element analysis modeling with experimental verification to determine the force transferability of tire and wheel assembly. In these tests, the results of the finite element analysis for force permeability should be in good agreement with the results from the indoor test.
To improve the noise from the structure, it is necessary to lower the first peak frequency of the force permeability. In addition, the influence of tire design parameters, such as the density and modulus of a rubber and cord stiffness, on force transmittance should be considered. Estimating the force permeability model using finite element analysis is useful for improving the road noise performance of a passenger car tire.
Lateral stiffness is how well a wheel resists flexing laterally (sideways) when a given load is applied in that direction. Stiffness is the ability to resist elasticity. A stiff wheel will flex very little. Mathematically, stiffness is the inverse of elasticity. Wheel stiffness is not related to wheel strength; in tests, the stiffness of the wheel is determined, not its strength. Generally, stiffness is defined as resistance to deformation. This is a correct but incomplete definition. Strength is the ability of a material to carry or support a load without failure.
Many parameters, such as aerodynamics, have a much greater effect on vehicle performance than wheel stiffness. However, lately there has been controversy about the lateral stiffness of the wheels.
In general, measuring the lateral stiffness of all wheels has two purposes: to rank the wheels by their lateral stiffness, and to answer some general theoretical questions about how wheels flex.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides test services for evaluating tire force transmittance and rim lateral hardness, within the scope of GMW 14876 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
