The standard “VW TL 52226 Moulded headliner ASSY, lightweight types – Material requirements” developed by the Volkswagen automobile company describes the material requirements for pre-assembled headliners for passenger cars with a substrate mass per unit area of not more than 1 500 g/m2 (light type).

The requirements in this standard are specified as follows:
The molded ceiling tile must maintain its dimensional and functional integrity within the relevant temperature range during transportation, storage, installation and subsequent service, as well as in the climatic conditions of 55 degrees Celsius and 95 percent relative humidity.
The manufacturing process and reprocessing temperatures must not result in visually disturbing changes, such as deformation, defects and discolouration. The back of the moulded ceiling tile must be free of release agents and adhesives or traces of adhesives.
The contractor shall test the adhesion of the nonwoven fabric tape behind the molded ceiling tile during development. The contractor shall test the roller peel values during the development and production process and inform the purchaser. These values shall be determined by agreement with the purchaser. It shall be possible to reliably bond the nonwoven fabric tape to the back of the molded ceiling tile together with the wiring.
It must be possible to process the components easily and safely, i.e. they must not be contaminated by exposed glass fibres or glass fibre dust, for example.
According to the drawing, the types are determined in this standard as follows:
Samples must be conditioned in an atmosphere conforming to VW 48 standard for at least 50554 hours before testing.
Identity testing of PUR foam can be performed via infrared spectrometry and pyrolysis gas chromatography.
The foam laminated face fabric is mechanically separated from the overall structure. The ignition residue on the substrate is then determined at 625 degrees until weight constancy is achieved. At least 3 separate values should be determined with a sample size of 100 mm × 100 mm.
The cleaning behaviour must comply with the PV 3353 standard. In general, cleaning is achieved with the following substances:
Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses and evaluations carried out for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services defined in the standard “VW TL 52226 Moulded headliner ASSY, lightweight types - Material requirements” with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
