The “Nissan NES M0141 Test methods for synthetic resin coating” standard developed by Nissan automobile company describes the paint test methods for paints used to coat synthetic resin materials and chrome plating.

Synthetic resins described in this standard include:
In addition, the material to be used must meet the “Nissan NES M0301 Substance use restrictions” standard.
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply:
The table given in this standard includes the test method classification.
The temperature of the painting room should be kept at 20 degrees plus/minus 5 degrees. The maximum relative humidity should not exceed 78 percent. The room should not be exposed to direct sunlight. The room should be free from gases or vapors that could adversely affect painting operations. Draughts should be minimized or eliminated.
Painting operations may be carried out under conditions other than those above. In this case, the temperature and relative humidity of the work area should be recorded together with the test data. However, during spray painting, the booth air velocity should always be in the range of 0,3 to 0,8 m/s.
The test room temperature should be maintained at 20 degrees plus/minus 1 degree. The maximum relative humidity should be maintained at 73 percent plus/minus 5 percent. The room should not be exposed to direct sunlight. The room should be free from gases or vapors that could adversely affect the test procedures. Draughts should be minimized or eliminated.
Room temperature is defined as 45 to 85 degrees Celsius at 5 to 35 percent relative humidity. If tests are conducted at temperature and humidity conditions outside these specified ranges, the room temperature and relative humidity should be recorded with the test data.
The shape and dimensions of the test plate are shown in the table given in the standard. These may differ from those specified if agreed by the parties concerned. Tests on anisotropic plates should be carried out both parallel and perpendicular to the grain of the plate.
The material used in preparing the test plate should be the same as that used in the actual part of the product, unless otherwise specified. Molding and fabrication procedures should be agreed upon between the personnel involved in the test. The procedures should be recorded. Test plates for urethane resin, urethane rubber, and semirigid polyurethane should be machine cut from a large molded plate. FRP, ABS, and PP test plates should be machine cut from a large molded plate or injection molded. Injection molded plates should use the same release agent as that used for the actual part. Injection molded plates should be carefully examined to determine whether the adhesion of the paint surface has been adversely affected. The presence of any additives, such as antioxidants, should be recorded.
During the test plate pretreatment, foreign materials that may adversely affect the adhesion of the paint surface must be removed. These materials include dust, mold release agents, oil and grease. Degreasing agents used with ABS and similar materials must be of a type that will not corrode the test plate base.
When sampling undiluted solution test material, test dyes are divided into production lots. A single dye container is randomly selected from each lot. The selected containers serve as representatives of their lots.
When sampling the test piece, shake the undiluted test paint thoroughly. Pour a portion of the test paint into a beaker. Stir the test paint in the beaker while adding the specified diluent. A #20 Ford cup for high viscosity paint or a #1 Ford cup for low viscosity paint is used to periodically check the viscosity of the diluted test sample at 4 degrees plus/minus 3 degree. The continuous flow of diluent should be within the range decided by the relevant test personnel. Record the weight ratio of undiluted test paint to diluent. This ratio is used for other test procedures.
Our organization has a strong staff that closely follows the developments in the world in the field of science and technology and constantly improves itself. Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies provided for businesses in various sectors, there are also test services in accordance with the "Nissan NES M0141 Test methods for synthetic resin coating" standard.
