Talc Filled Weather Resistant Polypropylene (PP) Resin Quality For KIA MS213-70 Hatch Top Cap
The standard “KIA MS213-70 Talc-filled Weather-resistant Polypropylene (PP) Resin Quality for Hatchback Cap” developed by Hyundai-Kia Motors Corporation, the oldest motor vehicle manufacturer in Korea, describes a procedure for determining the quality of talc-filled weather-resistant Polypropylene (PP) resin for hood back cap used in vehicles. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic polymer that is widely used in the automotive industry.

This material is applied to external parts that need long-term weather resistance. Talc-filled weather resistant Polypropylene (PP) resin is classified into two types of material as defined in the table titled “Types and classification” provided in the standard:
- Type A: Talk content 40 percent, cover headline
- Type B: Talk content 20 percent, cover headline
The general requirements in this standard are described as follows:
- Parts using this material must comply with all requirements of the relevant assembly performance standard.
- The chemical composition and processing conditions should not be changed inappropriately, which may affect the quality of the parts.
- Before changing the chemical composition of the material, it is mandatory to consult with the materials and quality control departments.
- Final parts made from this material must be free from defects, uneven shine, burn marks, warpage, silver streak, cracks, uneven color, flow marks, weld lines, sink marks or other defects.
This material is tested by the methods defined in the standard and must comply with the conditions specified in the table.
In general, the standard condition of the laboratory for tests is 23 degrees plus/minus 2 degrees temperature and 50 percent plus/minus 5 percent relative humidity. After production, samples should be stored in the standard condition specified above for at least 48 hours.
