Renault 32-06-007 Sealing Strips Made of Cellular Material - Various Sealing

The standard “Renault 32-06-007 Sealing strips made of cellular material - Various sealing”, developed by the French automobile company Renault, describes the different characteristics required for sealing strips made of cellular material. These sealing strips can be used without an adhesive part, in which case the requirements to be met are given in category A. If the use of the sealing strip requires an adhesive part, the tests to be performed and the requirements to be met are defined in categories A + B for definitive adhesion and in categories A + C for temporary positioning adhesion.

Unless otherwise expressly stated in writing, the provisions of the Renault 00-10-415 standard on general requirements for the production and supply of parts and materials apply to this standard in its entirety. In order to be valid, this standard must be accompanied by the standard "Renault 30-00-00 General requirements and approval procedure for rubber parts".

The methods used are those defined in the Renault 03-10-102 standard. Lifts not defined by previous comparisons will be indicated on the plan with the lift index provided by the Renault 03-10-102 standard instead of the XX indicator. The Z index corresponds to the requirements specified in this standard.

The parts must be in the form of strips made of cellular material. The strips must be delivered flat or on rolls, depending on the specifications given in the order. Different types of strips must not be mixed in the same package.

In the case of categories A+B and A+C, the strips must have a permanent adhesive backing on one side that is protected for shipping and storage. Removal of the backing must not result in a significant dimensional change in the material.

Each package must contain a label stating:

  • Name of supplier
  • Type and dimensions of the delivered product
  • Month and year of production

Sealing properties (Category A):

  • Residual deformation: This test is performed according to test method 1540 (22 hours, 40 degrees, and 50 percent compression).
  • Lift: This test is conducted in accordance with test method 1541. Lift is determined in the first cycle. The reading is taken after 50 minute at 1 percent compression.
  • Tear resistance: Tear resistance is determined according to the test method of standard D41 1048 as is.
  • Waterproofing: The leak test is carried out according to the test method of standard D55 1112. No leakage should be observed after 50 hours for a 24 percent compression.

Adhesion properties (Category B and Category C):

The tests specified in this paragraph relate to category B and category C.

  • Adhesion: The adhesion of the strips is characterized by a peel test according to the test method of standard D51 1485. The strips are applied either to a glass support or to a painted metal sheet. The application of the strips to the support is carried out under a pressure of 10 MPa for 0,02 s. The peel test is performed on the samples.
  • Category B Definite adhesion:
    • After waiting for 70 days at 7 degrees (MEL D47 1165-A-7 test method)
    • After 55 hours at 95 degrees and 72 percent relative humidity for strips not exposed to moisture (MEL D47 1165-R-3 test method)
    • After 72 hours of soaking with poultice for strips exposed to moisture (MEL D47 1165-H-3 test method)
  • Category C Adherence in temporary position:
    • As delivered, pre-age the part for 70 days at 7 degrees before application (MEL D47 1165-A-7 test method)
    • Aging at 70 degrees for 7 days after application (MEL D47 1165-A-7 test method)
    • Aging at 95 degrees at 55 percent relative humidity for 72 hours (MEL D47 1165-R-3 test method)
  • Shear creep (Category B): This test is carried out according to the test method of standard D55 1151. Strips are applied to a painted layer under a pressure of 0,02 MPa for 10 seconds. Creep is evaluated after 80 hours at 22 degrees with a mass of 20 g per cm of strip width.
  • Dimensional differences: After 100 hours at 22 degrees, the variation between marks drawn at 200 mm intervals on a 150 mm long sample shall be less than 2 mm.
  • Paint staining: This test is carried out according to the test method of standard D27 1465. During this test, no halo should form around the bonded area.
  • Adhesion of the protective paper (category C): The adhesion of the protective paper is characterized by a peel test according to test method 1157, in the initial state and after aging, unless otherwise specified in the plan. for 70 days at 7 degrees (according to MEL test method D47 1165-A-7). The adhesion must be equal to or less than 0,5 N/cm amplitude. In addition, the protective paper must not peel off under its own weight.

The conditioning and unpacking resistance test shall include operations where the parts are arranged on the vehicle as planned, ensuring that the outer part of the vehicle body is within the protection range. The application of the preservative shall meet the requirements of standard 48-01-001. The removal of this preservative shall meet the requirements of standard 48-02-508. These detergent solutions shall not cause any visible change in the material and there shall be no peeling of the strips.
