Stellantis PF.90347 Performance Specification - Air Intake Systems - Air Cleaner and Duct Assemblies

Published by Stellantis, the multinational automotive manufacturing company formed by the merger of Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French PSA Group "The Stellantis standard PF.90347 “Performance specification - Air induction systems - Air cleaner and duct assemblies” describes the environmental, physical, electrical, mechanical, functional, regulatory and durability requirements for air induction systems.

Stellantis PF.90347 Performance Specification - Air Intake Systems - Air Cleaner and Duct Assemblies

Air induction systems are primarily required to provide clean, filtered air to an internal combustion engine and reduce noise. Additional functions may include supplemental crankcase ventilation and scavenging systems with hose connections to the clean side duct or air cleaner cover.

Air induction systems include all components located above the throttle body on a non-boosted engine or above the compressor inlet on a boosted engine. These systems generally include three primary subassemblies: the dirty-side duct, the air cleaner, and the clean-side duct, as shown in the table titled "Air induction system subsystems" provided in the standard.

Assembly components may include air filters, hydrocarbon adsorbers, resonators, crankcase hoses, isolators, sensors, and fasteners. Because air induction system design is highly dependent on available package space in each vehicle and engine application, the location and types of components vary significantly.

Products and processes used in the production of products listed in this standard must comply with the requirements for worker and consumer health, worker safety, regulated substances, recycling, and environmental reporting according to the CS-9003 standard.

Mandatory or recommended tests included in this standard are intended to ensure compliance with the specification but do not relieve the responsible organization of the obligation to ensure that the component or system meets all environmental, physical, electrical, mechanical, functional, regulatory and durability requirements, including all applicable system interface requirements, as described in the standard, throughout the entire specified useful life.

A test plan (design verification plan and report) must be developed to verify and validate all required functions specified in this standard. The responsible organization must provide any additional testing deemed necessary to meet the functional requirements. The tables at the end of this standard provide a summary of all requirements and are used to develop the test plan.

Samples used for design verification must meet the specified drawing tolerance range. Design verification assemblies must also be representative of production, including common valve locations, inserts, vents, and parting lines. Production verification samples must meet statistical qualifications for the machine and production processes.

Each item in the test plan must be supported by a comprehensive test or laboratory procedure, as required. A test plan agreement by Stellantis does not relieve the responsible organization of its obligation to ensure that the component or system meets all environmental, physical, electrical, mechanical, functional, regulatory, and durability requirements within the organization's area of responsibility, as described in the standard, for the specified useful life, including all relevant system interface requirements.

Where applicable, actual measurement values for all tested samples should be entered into the design verification plan and report. Reports that provide a simple pass or fail result without adequate documentation will be rejected and returned until appropriate details are added.

The test methods defined in this standard are:
