TIS 01204-00232 published in Thailand Industrial Standards describes a test method for detecting the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and other atmospheric pollutants in vehicles. This test method, one of the Toyota standard tests, is intended to determine the results of efforts to reduce the emission volume of painting solvents containing volatile organic compounds and to reduce the amount of VOC emissions per painted vehicle body surface. Studies are still ongoing to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions in the dyeing process.

With the test method described in the TIS 01204-00232 standard, the types and concentrations of volatile organic compounds in the passenger compartment of the automobiles, static (parked, unventilated) and under certain operating conditions (driving the vehicle using only air conditioning or using the ventilation mode alone or opening the driver's window halfway) It is tested in various modes such as
In general, in the static vehicle test, the total concentration of volatile organic compounds is around 27-400 microg/m800 at normal interior vehicle temperatures (3 degrees on average), while at least five times higher under extreme temperature conditions (for example, up to 63 degrees). The most common individual volatile organic compounds are styrene, toluene, and volatile organic compounds of 8 to 12 carbons, and their concentrations vary considerably with vehicle brand, age, and internal temperature tested. In general, volatile organic compounds concentration levels under various operating conditions are usually four to eight times lower than static vehicle measurements under warm conditions (about 50-160 microg/m3).
These data show that relatively high concentrations of certain volatile organic compounds are measured inside static vehicles under extreme heat conditions, but under normal operating conditions, in-vehicle volatile organic compounds concentrations drop rapidly even when the air conditioner is operating.
Volatile organic compounds are a large group of chemicals included in many products used in the manufacture and maintenance of vehicles. These chemicals are released into the exhaled air. It poses a risk to human health. The most common examples of volatile organic compounds are benzene, ethylene glycol, formaldehyde, methylene chloride, tetrachloroethylene, toluene, xylene and 1,3-butadiene.
Our organization also provides testing services for volatile organic compounds (VOC) within the scope of TIS 01204-00232 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
